DIRECTIONS
The Monument is located seventeen miles north of San Francisco by Highways 101 and 1. Tours are available from San Francisco.

WHEN TO VISIT
Open year round. Peak visitor month is April. Climate is moderate, but oftentimes cool enough for a jacket.

POINTS OF INTEREST
This virgin stand of coastal redwoods was named for John Muir, writer and conservationist.

Visitor Center; museum/exhibits; NPS guided tours; self-guiding tours/trails; hiking.

GENERAL INFORMATION
No picnicking or dogs are allowed at the Monument. Snacks are available at the concession shop. Overnight accommodations, food, and supplies are available in surrounding communities.
